If you’re planning to visit Porto, Portugal, there are several ways to get there. Here are some of the most popular options:

By Car

If you’re coming from the south, the A1 highway is the most direct route to Porto. If you’re driving in from Guimarães, you’ll be on the A7. Take the A4 to head east out of the city. The highway passes through Vila Real and Bragança on the way to Spain. Once you arrive in Porto, you’ll find that the historic center is a complex labyrinth of streets, so be prepared for a bit of a challenge if you’re driving around.

Porto is well-connected by train to many other cities in Portugal, including Lisbon and Coimbra. If you’re coming from Lisbon, you can take the Alfa Pendular or Intercidades trains, which run several times a day and take around 3 hours to get to Porto. If you’re coming from Coimbra, you can take the regional train, which takes around 1.5 hours.

By Plane

Porto has an international airport, Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, which is served by many airlines from different parts of Europe, including Ryanair, Easyjet, and TAP Portugal. Once you arrive at the airport, you can take a metro or bus to the city center. The metro takes around 25 minutes, while the bus takes around 50 minutes.
